Maintenance Blocks

ASI offers you the option of pre-purchasing a Maintenance Block (MB). A MB allows for the completion of Maintenance Tasks (MT) without the need for formal quoting and invoicing.

What is included in a Maintenance Block?

A MT includes certain forms changes to your website or database, including:

Website Changes:

This includes editing the site template, or parts of the front end that you can’t edit through the CMS. For example, resizing a banner area, or changing the order of a navigation menu.

Data and Database Record Changes:

This includes any manual manipulation of your content or site data. For example, loading a new category/record structure for you, or importing a new contacts list.

Site Trouble Shooting and Training:

Staff turnover or extended time periods can lead to some areas of your site becoming neglected. Troubleshooting a modules functionality, or receiving training can be included as part of your maintenance block. Online training can be done via Skype or GoTo meetings, and will typically have less of an impact on your MB. Training conducted in your workplace is included, but travel time and other expenses will be taken into account.

Site Configuration and Setup:

This can include changes to module settings to change the behaviour of the module. eg. Single or dual record mode, or addition of “register to download” functionality.

What is NOT included ?

Code Changes:

Code changes include changing of module functionality in either the front end or admin section. Changes such as these require separate quotations, and so cannot be included in a MB.

New Sections or Functions:

Each module has its own installation price and so cannot be included as a MT. The installation of new sections needs to be quoted separately, however custom styling and setup to installed modules can be included as a MT.

Large Scale Changes:

Changes quoted at taking more than three hours are not applicable in a Maintenance Block. Exceptions can be made to this however time frames for delivery will be considered as special cases.

Why pre-purchase?

Help Desk Support:

For many businesses, a web application represents a significant part of their business infrastructure so reliance on rapid support is essential.

Avoid multiple minor invoices:

In order for ASI to complete work on your website, the quotation process is typically used. That is, you indicate to us what changes you would like to make. We in turn reply with a quotation for the time and cost involved in making the changes. On completion, an invoice is sent to you for the work done.

Having a pre-purchased MB means that you know where you stand financially when it comes to making small changes to the website. If you need to have something changed, you just need to let us know what it is, we will let you know how much time will be deducted from your MB, and we can complete the work without any further invoicing.

Cheaper:

The larger the block size, the cheaper the hourly cost on your business or association. If you like to make regular changes to your website, pre-purchasing a larger MB will end up cheaper for you.

Minimum Work:

The minimum quotable amount for works outside a MB is one hour, where as inside a MB it is half an hour. This allows you to make minor changes to your website in a more cost effective manner.

Block sizes:

The following sizes of MB are available for you to purchase.

Block Size Total Cost ex GST Cost per hour ex GST
10 Hours $1950 $195
20 Hours $3850 $192.50
30 Hours $5500 $183.35

The cost of maintenance outside of a MB is $225 ex GST per hour.

Expiry

A maintenance block is only valid for 12 months from the receipt of the purchase agreement. Any remaining time on the block will not be usable. Please keep this in mind when deciding on the above block size.
